Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We went during the week so it was nice & quiet. Service was not great as our waitron did not understand, nor spoke coherent English. Atmosphere is lovely as there are views across the ocean. Food was OK"
"Just spent a wonderful Sunday evening at Primi. Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. My wife who is coeliac had a lovey pasta dish. Staff were very knowledgeable of gluten intolerance. The evening was enhanced by the fabulous live jazz music that gave the place a great vibe. Because it is a little way off the main Camps Bay strip it’s easy to miss it abut it is worth looking out for. The main Camps Bay strip can be a little full on which made The Primi a lovely peaceful option. I would definitely recommend this place for a lovey chilled experience. Will certainly be returning."
"Great night out. Food was good. Just wished they had more pasta noodle options. Reservations could use a bit of work. They first couldn't find our booking, then when they managed to find it and we adjusted our time due to traffic they didn't rebook correctly and couldn't find our new reservation at all upon arrival. Nevertheless they found us a table. 5 stars for that. A little less pushy on alcohol sales would be appreciated. Sometimes customers drink other times, you don't. It's a restaurant, not a bar. Food was really satisfying. I think shrinkflation has hit them a bit, so just mind the pasta portions. Probably trying to keep the pasta prices under R200. Sometimes it comes across as a bit meager. Other than that yea, a nice restaurant for dinner. Hiccups aside. Will still return."
"Christmas Day 2024 - the first time in forever that hubby and I spent the day by ourselves. We decided to go for a swim at Camps Bay tidal pool. We were lucky to find a parking spot right at Primi’s front door. Swam for about 45 min and while drying we explored the rocky area adjacent to the pool and found a perfect spot. Needless to say the open ocean water called us in. Icy cold but so enjoyable that I spent another hour in the water. By 13h30 we needed food and coffee . I thought we were in for a bad experience when the only plant-based milk they had was oats so I opted for black coffee. Menu choices for plant-based options were few so we had a flatbread and fries. The bread was absolutely scrumptious and the dipping sauce added another level of deliciousness. Fries were done to perfection and the portion size perfect. My Virgin Mojito was a bit on the too sweet side even for my sweet tooth, but was very refreshing. Hubby coaxed me into get a pudding. Being lactose intolerant my pudding choices are limited. I ordered a malva pudding figured it is often moist enough to eat on its own. Waitress said she will bring the hand crafted custard on the side . Oh my gosh I could see that was no ordinary custard and could not resist drizzling a little over the pudding. Boy it was delicious! Suffered the consequences later that evening but it was just too good to resist."
"I stayed 5 days in Cape Town and went to several restaurants of various types of food... This restaurant was definitely the best for me! Great price, excellent service and delicious food! On my last day I witnessed a very cool scene, there was a table with two children who seemed a little bored, the children went to see the bartender making drinks, he gave all the attention, showed how he made the drinks, and interacted with the children.. In the end he was even applauded by them! He certainly made the children's dinner happier! Everyone is to be congratulated! The bartender, the team of attendants, cooks and the owner of the restaurant!"
"Popped in to get a takeaway for lunch and the staff were friendly and the service quick. I ordered the chicken liver pasta and it was super satisfying and great value for money! Decent portion, delicious flavour, a good amount of sauce and livers and there were some sliced peppers and mushrooms included, and I was even provided with takeaway portions of garlic, Parmesan and chilli. Will definitely order this pasta again and am keen to try other options :)"
"After a lot of searching, we finally found this little gem. Primi is beautifully located right on the Camps Bay coastline, the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a drink in hand. On Sundays, there’s even live music, which adds a great atmosphere. And the food? Truly delicious. I’m Italian and I love to cook, so normally I’m quite picky with anything that tries to be Italian. In theory, I should know better — but honestly, they know better than me. They take the Italian basics and mix them with an African vibe, and the result is fantastic: full of flavour, super tasty, beautifully balanced. A small note: the dishes took a bit of time to arrive, but we also ordered in two separate rounds, so that might be on us. The staff is lovely — warm, welcoming and relaxed, which fits perfectly with the vibe of the place. Definitely a spot you’ll want to come back to. Highly recommended!"
"I had a delicious breakfast at Primi. I ordered the signature House Breakfast, which included two eggs, bacon, grilled tomato, sauteed mushrooms, and smokey baked beans. Everything was prepared really well. All the food is very reasonably priced. The service and ambiance were also great. I would highly recommend dining at Primi."
